Shiloh Kopecky is a Canadian visual artist emerging in Edmonton Alberta.
Growing up in Edmonton Alberta Shiloh along with his family moved to an acreage community outside of city limits in the early 2000s. Here he lived for his high-school years before moving back in to Edmonton to reduce the winter commute during his first years at Grant MacEwan University. Initially taking Organic Chemistry, though interesting as it may be the desire to commit to that career path for a lifetime eventually dissipated and so Shiloh did not return for a third year of studies. Instead he continued with his already established career in Edmonton’s earthworks industry.
Compensating for its faults, construction offered Shiloh ample income to bank for tuition, travel, and living expenses. It also cultivated an appreciation for the ethic and the hours demanded of dedicated work. With the nature of the work being alone for the staggering majority of the time, this enticed thoughts and ideas out beyond being just a mental exercise. He began to remember his youthful affinity for Fine Art, big ideas, and writing about himself in the third person… The seasonal nature of the job also allowed for time to travel, allowing the freedom to build stories from San Salvador to Istanbul.
The following winter, poorly thought out with no real reasoning; Shiloh put together a submission portfolio for Grant MacEwans highly competitive Fine Arts Program and was accepted soon after. Working summers and attending class every September, this cycle was repeated until his graduation of the program in 2012.
At this point, now claiming to have always aspired to complete a Fine Arts degree, Shiloh took a year off before applying to further arts institutions. Putting his life in Canada into storage to take the obligatory Euro-trip demanded of any artist seeking to earn their dreads. In his absence from Canada, Shiloh came to recognize himself as an artist in a very Canadian context. He enthusiastically sought out everything he had only read about in art history texts, only to then classlessly forget in a reckless absorption of culture served by the pint.
Returning to Canada, Shiloh was accepted to the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary Alberta for that falls semester. From then to his graduation in early 2015 Shiloh biannually moved back in forth from Edmonton and Calgary between work and education.
Following graduation Shiloh Kopecky returned to living in Edmonton area and continued working in a cyclical schedule. Summers, returning to earthworks industry and, the winters to travel and continue to evolve his art practice.
In 2018 this very site attributed to Shilohs hiring as a User Experience Designer. Evolving professionally, this artists hand reigns influence behind the scenes designing experiences to then be built for audiences of tens of millions of people.

Putting his life in Canada into storage to take the obligatory Euro-trip demanded of any artist seeking to earn their dreads. In his absence from Canada, Shiloh came to recognize himself as an artist in a very Canadian context. “Arting” it up to everything he had only read about in art history classes to then classlessly forget it the nearest pub serving Czech beer.
Returning to Canada, Shiloh was accepted to the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary Alberta for that falls semester. From then to his graduation in early 2015 Shiloh biannually moved back in forth from Edmonton and Calgary between work and education.
